Pay Day Q & A is a questions-and-answers site about payday loans and cash advance apps — built for the person searching at 2 a.m. in a panic. A calm, honest site stands out in this corner of the internet, so that is what this is.
What it covers
True APR math on payday loans and apps like EarnIn and Dave; tribal loan traps; rollover cycles; bank-account debits and overdrafts; state laws and your protections; your rights when you can't pay; and safer alternatives — above all credit union Payday Alternative Loans (PALs), which the NCUA caps at 28% APR.
How answers are sourced
Every answer stands alone in plain language and carries a linked official source — the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), or the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) — with the source date and the last-updated date beside it. APR figures are the CFPB's published examples or arithmetic shown in the answer itself.
The archive
The site launched with a 40-entry Founding Archive: 10 topics, 4 answers each. On the live site, a daily refresh adds new verified answers, insert-only, deduplicated by question. This static GitHub copy holds the 40 Founding Archive answers exactly as launched; it does not refresh.
Not advice
This site is educational information only. It is not financial advice, legal advice, or a lending product, and it never will be. For advice about your own situation, use the free routes in the help panel: dial 211, contact a nonprofit credit counselor, a legal aid office, or your state regulator.
